WELCOME

I'm happy you're here! I am Brita, owner and counselor at Unburdened Therapy. I believe people heal when they are seen, understood, and heard. A goal of mine is to create a felt sense of safety in the therapy space to facilitate an environment that creates insight and growth. I hope for your therapy to be meaningful, realistic, while also maybe a space where there can be a few laughs. At Unburdened Therapy, my hope for you is that you're not alone. You're supported and empowered to heal where being a human is embraced. Whether you want to heal from trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or simply seek personal growth, I'm here to walk alongside you. Feel free to look around and reach out to schedule a complimentary consultation call!

"When someone really hears you without passing judgment on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mold you, it feels damn good. When I have been listened to and when I have been heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on. It is astonishing how elements which seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens. How confusions which seem irremediable turn into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard."

Meet Brita

Mental Health Counselor & Founder of Unburdened Therapy

My name is Brita, and I am a Clinically Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of North Dakota. I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Jamestown. Compassion, inclusivity, and authenticity are core values for me as a clinician. I provide individual therapy services to adults of various backgrounds, diagnoses, and experiences.

I use an eclectic approach, which means I individualize my style and treatment specific to the needs of the client. With that being said, I especially bring in trauma-informed approaches to my practice from my training and experience and hold a passion for treating complex trauma. By thoughtfully combining these approaches, I attempt to tailor therapy to the whole person—not just a diagnosis. I also strive to show up like a fellow human with you, so that you can know that there is no judgment or need to "be" a certain version of you in the space together. When I am not in my therapist role, I am a mother to a wonderful toddler, two dogs, and a cat! I love nature, exploring new places, and spending quality time with my people.
