At Unburdened Therapy, I believe healing is possible for everyone—no matter your past or current challenges and experiences. You are a human amongst humans, and we all at some time will need support when life gets to be a lot. My mission is to provide compassionate, inclusive care that supports your journey toward emotional well-being, greater self-understanding, and deeper healing/progress. Our work will assist you in addressing both current and past adversities/stressors to attend to the now, as well as to get to the source of what may be burdening you. 

In session, I take an eclectic, client-centered approach to therapy, integrating a variety of evidence-based modalities to meet the unique needs of each individual. I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)... see below for what that all means if you're not familiar!

Therapy Approaches

Most of the beauty of therapy and progress comes from a safe and secure connection. Complimentary to this is certain modalities that build a framework and guide for how therapy is carried out. My style is eclectic, where I use a combination of approaches to meet the needs of the individual person and their story. Here are some of the above mentioned approaches that may be used in our therapy and what they mean.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a research-backed therapy designed to help people heal from traumatic or upsetting experiences. It works by guiding you to briefly focus on a difficult memory while engaging in gentle eye movements or other forms of rhythmic stimulation. This process helps your brain reprocess the memory in a way that feels less distressing over time, often leading to relief and a sense of resolution—without needing to go into all the details.

Internal Family Systems

(IFS)

IFS is a compassionate, insight-oriented therapy that helps you explore the different “parts” of yourself—like the part that’s anxious, the part that avoids, or the part that feels hurt. These parts often developed as ways to protect you, even if they now feel overwhelming. With IFS, you’ll learn to connect with your core Self—a calm, grounded, wise presence—and gently help your parts feel seen, understood, and healed.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

(ART)

ART is a short-term therapy that helps reduce the impact of difficult memories, anxiety, or stress. Through calming eye movements and visualization techniques, ART helps your brain change the way distressing images and sensations are stored. You remain in control of the process, and many people find relief without needing to share every part of their story. It’s fast, gentle, and can be powerfully effective.

Dialectic Behavior Therapy

(DBT)

DBT is a structured, skills-based therapy that supports people who experience intense emotions, relationship struggles, or impulsive behaviors. It teaches practical tools in four key areas: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT helps you find balance—learning how to accept where you are, while also making meaningful changes to build a life that feels more stable and satisfying.

What can I expect with therapy initially?

  • In your first session, we will conduct an intake where we discuss presenting concerns, briefly explore history, and establish future goals.

    • This session is one hour to one and a half hours.

  • Future session’s frequency is dependent on needs of each individual, but is often weekly or biweekly to start and spaced out as progress is made.​

  • These are most often 45 mintues to an hour. ​

  • You will receive a link before your session which will bring you to our secure meeting room where your session will be held.

  • ​This process is yours, and I take steps to ensure you are as comfortable as possible in our work, so YOU get to decide what you are okay and not okay with sharing, especially towards the begiinning of our work.

    • Early on I also appreciate briefly discussing some informed consent within treatment, to prevent any types of unkown or suprises in the process. ​
